Today, Treyarch and Activision hosted a Global Reveal Event to talk more about eSports in Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3. The event took place at GamesCom which is currently being held in Cologne, Germany. Where COD fans can get hands on with Black Ops 3 Multiplayer!
A bunch of New & Exclusive Black Ops 3 Intel was released regarding the eSports Agenda of Black Ops 3. And we are delighted to say that Treyarch didn't disappoint! If you missed the Live Reveal Event, here's a recap of whats in store:
Arena (New League Play): Arena marks the return of the fan favourite competitive Game Mode - League Play, last seen in Treyarchs previous title Black Ops 2! - "It's the system for Ranked Competitive Play, where consecutive wins earn players into progressively higher Ranks (20 Total) up to the Elite Masters Division."
New Ban & Protect System:
"The New Ban & Protect System creates a meta-game around selection of content. With this system, each player gets one (or multiple) votes that they can use to either Ban or Protect a specific peice of content from the Create a Class, ScoreStreaks or Specialists. This adds a New layer of strategy to the competition."
NEW Specialist Draft Feature:
"The New Specialist Draft feature within Black Ops 3 is a Pre-Match selection process , designed for Arenas and tournaments. In which each team is allowed no more than one of each Specialist weapon or ability. Encouraging teams to to plan each players role within the game ahead."
COD Caster:
"Black Ops 3 brings big changes to the COD Caster Mode for Commentators and Spectators. Casters can specify which settings they want to use when the game starts in the pre-game lobby and change the settings in the game as well. The New Quick Settings menu allows casters to to access the most commonly used tools on the fly. Allowing for fast changes to be made during the action."
COD Cast Identity Feature:
With the New COD Caster Identity feature, casters can now specify team names and primary team colours. Getting rid of the default in game faction names. Plus the New loudout widget allows allows casters to visually illustrate details for specific players: Loudouts, Equipment and of course weapons. Also the ability to turn XRay Mode on (which allows spectators to see players through walls) is returning.
Competitive Game Modes: During the reveal event, Treyarch showcased some New competitive gameplay featuring well known Pro Players. The Modes returning for eSports in Black Ops 3 include: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Capture the Flag and Uplink! Yes, Uplink is returning in Black Ops 3, bringing the fast paced mode where players have to fight for control of the satellite drone in order to score in the enemies portal, back into the eSports scene for another year!
PSN New home of eSports: At the end of the Reveal event, Treyarch Officially announced that Competitve Play / eSports for Black Ops 3 will be moving over to PS4! Meaning that Sony maybe one of the sponsors for future CoDeSport Events!

UPDATE: Activision have announced that some eSports Features in Black Ops 3 will not be available on XBox 360 & PS3, including the the Arena (League Play). "Treyarch detailed some of the New competitve features launching with the XBox One, PC & PS4 versions of the game."
